CharlottesBook.com | "Why Everyone Is Talking About Microneedling"

New York City Dermatologist, Dr. Doris Day, says she’s had more requests than ever for the procedure this year.

“It can even out skin tone, and it can improve delivery of antioxidants into the skin,” she says. “For someone with something like melasma, microneedling may be the standard of care treatment in the future.”

It’s great for acne scars, fine lines, skin rejuvenation, and general discoloration. Generally, patients need about six to ten monthly treatments, followed by maintenance. Treatments take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the surface area and condition that’s being treated.

The article also says, “According to data released by RealSelf today, the procedure will be the hottest aesthetic trend of 2016, as predicted by the majority of 500 board-certified doctors polled by the site.  Additionally, the site has seen a 57% increase in interest in the treatment by readers since it became a topic in forums there.”

Microneedling (also called collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

StyleCaster.com | "Micro-Needling Might Really Be the Secret to Flawless Skin"

Erika Stalder talks about micro-needling in an article for StyleCaster.com.

"Creation of those micro-holes kicks the skin into healing mode, where it rushes to make more collagen. This helps fade scars and smooth pockmarks caused by acne, prevents fine lines from deepening, and gives skin a level of radiance often reserved for only the most deep-pocketed of beauty slaves."

Harper's Bazaar | "The New Skincare Secret"

Jessica Prince Erlich writes about micro-needling in this article for Harper’s Bazaar dated March 27, 2015:

“For women in their 20s, 30s, or 40s experiencing fine lines or a dull complexion, “micro-needling is a good place to start,” says Chia Chi Kao, a Santa Monica plastic surgeon. These treatments use fine stainless steel needles to puncture the skin at varying depths, creating a controlled injury that’s safe on all skin types (including dark and/or acne-prone complexions) with little downtime.”

Vogue.com | "Later, Lasers: Why Microneedling Is the Next Big Thing in Skin Care"

As Seen in VOGUE logo

Mashell Tabe, an Albuquerque, New Mexico–based Medical Aesthetician was interviewed by Vogue. “I want to scream it from the rooftops,” she says. “Done regularly, microneedling will make your skin act like it did in your 20s—it’ll be thicker, it’ll glow, it’ll have the most beautiful tone and texture.”

The automated stamping pens make for far faster work and are considerably cheaper than the higher-tech alternative of fractional lasers, which create similar pinpoint channels in the skin. (And not by coincidence: The technology was actually “patterned after the concept of needling,” says Cheryl Burgess, M.D., a dermatologist in Washington, D.C.)

Kathleen Jennings

Kathleen Jennings | "We tried it…SkinPen Microneedling!"

Kathleen Jennings of kathleenjenningsbeauty.com had a SkinPen treatment. She says in this article, “The most ringing endorsement for the SkinPen I’ve heard was at a Persona event. I was talking to a corporate rep from the Coolsculpting company (that non-surgical fat removing procedure), and her skin was beyond flawless. She was not there to plug the SkinPen, and did not even receive her treatment at Persona. As we were chatting, she said she has tried many more-invasive treatments (with downtime) like laser treatments (Fraxel), Ulthera, and super-strong peels to combat the signs of aging. And the ‘only thing she thinks made a difference’ was the SkinPen treatment.”

Reader's Digest | This Is What Microneedling Really Does to Your Face

Sejal Shah, MD, a dermatologist in New York City, was interviewed by Reader's Digest:

“This is one of the reasons I like microneedling - because it’s able to utilize the body’s own natural healing mechanisms, so the results are very natural. Also because there’s minimal downtime with it, I often recommend it as maintenance for people who are trying to stave off the signs of aging.”
