Body Contouring - When does it work best?

Body contouring sounds AHHH - MAZING! Go in and get fat zapped! Come out skinny! I LOVE the idea, BUT that's not how it works. There are a couple of things you should consider before you sign up.

  1. It works best on small areas of fat.
  2. Body contouring was designed to give definition. It's not for weight loss.
  3. You have to maintain a stable weight for body contouring to work.
  4. It's not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise.
  5. Nonsurgical body contouring takes time to work.

The fat treated in body contouring procedures (Sculpsure, CoolSculpting, Kybella, Liposuction, Tummy Tucks, etc.) lies just underneath the skin.

It's called subcutaneous fat. This kind of fat isn't bad for your health. It does make you feel less attractive.

But there's another kind of fat called visceral fat. It sits inside your body, surrounding your organs and infiltrating them. In women you see visceral fat as a pear or apple shaped body. In men people call it a beer belly. This is the type of fat that causes heart attacks and cancer.

So here's the problem.  If you have the harmless subcutaneous fat removed, those fat cells are gone forever. THEN if you gain weight that fat has to go somewhere. It can go to places you never had subcutaneous (harmless) fat before - OR - it could add to your visceral / bad fat (and harm your health).

So - if I haven't scared you off - click the links below to learn more about the different kinds of body contouring available, the areas they treat, and how much each costs.

KYBELLA

Kybella is a non-surgical way to remove the fat that creates a double chin. This type of body contouring works through injections that break down fat. Click the link below to learn more about Kybella.

COOLSCULPTING & COOLMINI

CoolSculpting & CoolMini use cryolipolysis to freeze stubborn fat. The results are very consistent which makes this noninvasive body contouring treatment popular.
